Located on SR 53 in southern Clearfield County, Coalport got its name from the main local industry-coal mining. Incorporated in 1883, much of its downtown district is on the National Historic Register. The downtown looks and feels much like it did during coal’s peak years in the region, and even has an old-fashioned 5 and 10-cent store.
