Stop 1 (Estimated Time - 3 hours)

Elk Viewing Center - 950 Winslow Hill Rd  Benezette, PA 15821 (814) 787-5167 The largest free roaming elk herd east of the Mississippi River is found in Benezette and the area surrounding. The center offers a way for you to learn and explore every aspect of the Pennsylvania Elk with their education class room. There is a 4D theatre allowing you to have the full PA Wilds experience. The live outdoor cam allows you to browse the grounds from inside the center or the trails surrounding the property allow you to explore by foot. The educational opportunities are endless at the center with it being an environmentally friendly building. Hours of operation are available on the website: elkcountryvisitorcenter.com. The best time to visit is  September – October: 7 Days a Week | 8am – 8pm, Grounds open Dawn till 8pm. 

You will be in the heart of the Quehanna Wilds when you are in Benezette. There is so much to explore here. The best of the outdoors can be found in the Quehanna Wild Area, bring your camera, binoculars or fishing pole and enjoy the endless opportunities on this side adventure.

Stop 2 (Estimated Time - 3 hours)

Parker Dam State Park - 28 Fairview Rd  Penfield, PA 15849, (814) 765-0630 -The 968-acre Parker Dam State Park offers old-fashioned charm and character. A scenic lake, rustic cabins, quaint campground and unbounded forest make Parker Dam an ideal spot for a relaxing vacation. For wilderness explorers, Parker Dam is a gateway to the vast expanses of Moshannon State Forest. You can walk through recovering tornado ravaged woods, backpack into the 50,000-acre Quehanna Wilderness, mountain bike to your heart’s content or enjoy quiet solitude searching for elusive Pennsylvania elk. Educational programs available each weekend all year long or by appointment for groups.

Stop 3 (Estimated Time - 3 hours)

Dr. Doolittles Roadside Café - 1290 Rich Highway, DuBois 15801, 814-375-7080- Looking for a fun place that has a little bit of everything for the kids to do, be sure to stop at Dr. Doolittles Roadside Café along Rt. 219 in Falls Creek. As you pull in you see this quaint ice cream shop that is painted like a cow and animal benches around the building. Greeting you at the entrance is a Big foot statue standing alongside a huge dinosaur and placed right beside a carousel. Enjoy a game of laser tag, indoor mini glow golf, and outdoor mini golf or rent the party barn for a party. Enjoy the sights of sika deer, miniature horses, alpaca, goats and miniature donkeys.  The newest piece coming aboard are railroad cars for dinning. Summer hours 11am-9pm, Winter hours 11am-8pm.

The DuBois Mall is a great place for all ages to shop and enjoy time together.
