Presbyterian Church of Clearfield Hosts End-of-Summer “Splashin’ Sunday” Celebration CLEARFIELD, PA — The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield invites all children and teens to join in the fun at its End of Summer Splashin’ Sunday on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The event will take place at the church, located at 119 N Second Street, Clearfield, PA. This special back-to-school celebration kicks off during the Sunday School hour at 9:00 AM and continues through the Traditional Worship Service at 10:30 AM. Children will enjoy exciting activities, a Bible lesson, and—weather permitting—fun water games. Snacks will be provided for all participants. “This is a wonderful way for kids to celebrate the end of summer and start the school year with joy, friendship, and faith,” said Family Ministries & Community Outreach Director, Kellie Strouse. The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield offers weekly children’s programming with Sunday School at 9:00 AM and Junior Church during the 10:30 AM Traditional Service. All are welcome to attend. Violinist Evan Forcey to Perform Solo Recital at Presbyterian Church of Clearfield   Clearfield, PA – The community is warmly invited to an evening of live music as local violinist Evan Forcey presents a solo recital on Friday, June 27th at 7:30 PM at the Presbyterian Church of Clearfield, located at 119 N 2nd Street, Clearfield, PA.   This special event celebrates Evan’s first semester of college-level music study and features a selection of violin works that highlight his growth, dedication, and artistry. Accompanying Evan on piano is his best friend and musical colleague, Slone Smith, promising a moving and memorable performance.   “I’m very excited to share the progress I’ve made throughout the semester,” says Evan. “It means so much to perform for such a wonderfully supportive community, and I’ve chosen a repertoire I think everyone will enjoy.”   Admission is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.   For those unable to attend in person, the recital will be livestreamed on the Presbyterian Church of Clearfield’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, making it easy for friends, family, and music lovers near and far to join the celebration.   Join us for an inspiring night of violin music and community celebration with one of Clearfield’s rising talents.

So, be sure to stop in at Historica Plus, Bob's Army & Navy, Jim's Sports Center, Historic Ritz Theater, Liddle Gallery, and Deja Brew Coffee Shop.   Lunch at The Rock on the River The Rock on the River is Clearfield County's very first jail, turned into a huge attraction. Explore the 4 floors and lookout tower while you dine with us at Warden 1876 farm-to-table restaurant. In the basement, you will find a Speak Easy, a (haunted) Airbnb, and a billiards room. On the first floor, you will find a coffee shop, museum, sandwich cafe, and jail cells to explore. On the second floor, you will find a gastropub, Warden 1876, a sitting room, and more jail cells to explore. On the third floor, you will the a suite that overlooks the jail cells and the entrance to the lookout tower. Don't forget to climb the 42 steps up to the lookout tower that gives a bird's-eye view of downtown Clearfield. There is an elevator for the public to use, and the building is handicap accessible.    Benezette Winery One of the area's wineries shares its fame with the Pennsylvania Elk. This winery has an outdoor patio that backs up to a 200-year-old oak tree and borders State Game Lands.  The gift shop also displays photos and memorabilia of the history of the Benezette Area.    Elk Life Created from a passion for the outdoor explorer. Deciding to see these majestic animals in person is an adventure. Witnessing the cows in late spring when they deliver their newborn calves or encounter the magnificent bulls as they display their awesome racks and strength in the fall. It’s an experience you will never forget. The sound of a bull bugling will send chills up your spine. So while you are visiting our small town, stop in and shop our Explore It store, where you will find all kinds of clothing and gifts.   Elk Visitor Center The largest free-roaming elk herd east of the Mississippi River is found in Benezette and the area surrounding it. The center offers a way for you to learn and explore every aspect of the Pennsylvania Elk with their education classroom. There is a 4D theatre allowing you to have the full PA Wilds experience. The live outdoor cam allows you to browse the grounds from inside the center, or the trails surrounding the property allow you to explore on foot. The educational opportunities are endless at the center, with it being an environmentally friendly building. Hours of operation are available on the website: elkcountryvisitorcenter.com. The best time to visit is  September – October. If you visit us in the fall, we will have a catered meal for guests while you take turns riding a wagon pulled by Clydesdales that will take you through the heart of the elk herd.

Day 2 - Clearfield County is known for its great outdoors. Families will bond as they explore the hills and walleys - perfectly chiseled by the West Branch Susquehanna River. There are plenty of side activities in this itinerary and each low cost and promsiing an enjoyable day for all.  Stop 1 (Estimated Time - 2 hours) Bilgers Rocks- 1928 Bilger's Rocks Road, Grampian, PA  16838, 814-577-8362- A long, long time ago, over 300 million years, before the settlers, before the Indians, way back when the earth was taking its shape; a city was built just outside of Grampian in Clearfield County. This prehistoric city was like none other, for it was made of massive rocks! Twenty acres of them! Some towering over five stories high, most more than 20 feet thick! Who wouldn’t want to climb that?!? The geological phenomenon responsible for this masterpiece, known as frost wedging, caused boulders to break away from the mountainside, creating this magnificent vision full of numinous caverns and narrow passageways that has withstood eons of vagaries. Open Dawn to Dusk 7 days a week.  The Clearfield to Grampian Rail Trail runs along the West Branch Susquehanna River. You could easily explore 5 miles of the trail before your next stop. Bring your bicycle, snow shoes or cross country skis for this non motorized trail. Stop 2 (Estimated Time - 3 hours) Curwensville Lake Recreation Area - 1256 Lake Drive, Curwensville, PA  16830, 814-236-2320- Curwensville Lake is the regions premier destination for family fun. Home to the areas only 'Dog Park' Fido will no longer have to stay home.  With 200 picnic tables and 22 grills you are sure to find a spot to enjoy a family picnic.  Each pavilion has a playground nearby. The beach area is the perfect place to run your toes through the sand and catch a tan. There is no horsepower restrictions for people wanting to enjoy the water. The fish are plentiful and always biting. Bring your RV or tent and camp among the hardwoods. The Clearfield to Grampian Rail Trail runs along the West Branch Susquehanna River. Stop 3 (Estimated Time - 3 hours) Fun Central - 14399 Clearfield Shawville Hwy  Clearfield, PA 16830, 814-765-3700- Fun Central contains a 2000sq.ft. laser tag arena, a 9-hole, pirate adventure themed, black-light mini-golf course, approximately 50 arcade and redemption games, three birthday rooms, a large soft-play jungle gym and a full restaurant. The entire center operates on the newest technology with a total cashless-debit card system that will use magnetic swipe cards for all the games and attractions. Fun Central is designed as free admission and pay-as you go on all the attractions. If you are bringing a group of 10 or more contact our office and let us organize a guided tour. This itinerary could fill as much as 4 days when you add driving time, meals and the add-on features. Be sure to stay at one of our partnering properties while you visit Clearfield County.
