Join the Lake for, weather permitting, some of the best meteor shower viewing opportunities! The annual Perseid meteor shower is one of the most beloved meteor showers of the year, especially in the Northern Hemisphere, where the shower peaks on warm summer nights. No matter where you live worldwide, the 2020 Perseid meteor shower will probably produce the greatest number of meteors on the mornings of August 11, 12 and 13. On the peak mornings in 2020, the moon will be at or slightly past its last quarter phase, so moonlight will somewhat mar this year’s production. But the Perseids tend to be bright, and a good percentage of them should be able to overcome the moonlight. Who knows? You still might see up to 40 to 50 meteors per hour at the shower’s peak.
Space themed activities all week! Come camp with us!
Join us for a weekend of Art and Painting fun! Little Artist themed craft and decor for the kids; adult Sip-n-Paint Saturday at 5:00 pm.
DuBois Shine is an all new automotive experience coming exclusively to our area. This special event is meant to be a tribute to auto enthusiasts from the past - present - and future.
This event will take place on August 15, 2020 at the DuBois High School. Registration 10-12. Car show 12-330. There will be 14 classes. Each class will have 2 "Shine Awards" up for grabs. A "Shine Award" signifies timeless automotive excellence and attention to detail.
Everybody has a story about a family or friend that had an unrelenting passion for this incredible hobby. We plan to honor that passion in an effort to allow these enthusiasts to "shine" once again.
The coolest part of this unique event is that every single "Shine Award" will feature a dedication at the bottom with the name of an automotive enthusiast from the past or present who inspired somebody to get into the hobby. This little detail will allow us to honor the enthusiasts of the future while remembering the ones who keep these hobbies going from the past and present.
